Missing output or gui on monitor/projector

This can happen for a number of reasons and I've been confused sometimes due to missing simple things. I'll jot them here as I come across them again.

1: Make sure the output, that is, the 2nd screen to the left of the GUI has been set up correctly in the display manager / nvidia settings / etc, so it sits directly to the left, butt up against, your GUI screen.

It is possible to end up with the application off screen for vaious reasons.

In this case you can use startup code 3 to reset the display positions, eg.
